Settling into Wellington

I arrived in Wellington from Queenstown, got picked up by an arranged shuttle from the university, and headed straight to check into the dorms and start figuring everything out.

The first couple of days were very chaotic, between moving in, getting my room set up, and walking around the city to get a feel for it. My family and I spent a lot of time around Cuba Street and Willis Street, just exploring and getting familiar with where things are. Also did the essential supply runs, which took a little longer than expected.

The weather was insane. We arrived at hurricane-level winds and rain, so everything felt a little more dramatic than it needed to be. But we still managed to get through international orientation. It was a big day up at Kelburn campus for Victoria University of Wellington, where I picked up my student ID, walked around campus, and checked out the Pipitea campus as well (where my classes are held). We also spent time down by the waterfront, walking along Queens Wharf.

Once things started to feel more settled, we took the Wellington Cable Car up to the Botanic Gardens, walked around up there, and explored more of the city after.

Ended the first few days just getting into a rhythm, figuring out campus, organizing my space, getting comfortable navigating everything, and spending as much time as possible with my family.

Beautiful photos, and that’s wonderful you are settling in smoothly - especially after the wild Wellington weather!
